ASAP Secured - Advanced Planning Key to Active Shooter Response

Last October ASAP Secured management and security staff had to respond to the tragic active shooter situation that unfolded at the Canadian National War Memorial and Parliament Hill. ASAP Secured management from the Ontario Head Office consistently monitors live news feeds that may directly or indirectly effect our security operations, clients and staff. We were immediately alerted to the events as they started to unfold in Ottawa and activated a plan to ensure our clients and staff were safe, as we provide permanent guarding services for several retail clients in the vicinity. Our field security staff did a terrific job in assisting our clients with the lock down of their stores and ensuring the safety of customers and themselves. ASAP Secured management worked with the clients' security operations centre based in the United States to keep them informed on what was occurring in the area.

In the following days, ASAP Secured provided all employees with the “Active Shooter” training course. This course outlines strategies to assist all security personnel that may find themselves in an active shooter situation, whether they are at work or not.

It is in situations like these that we can demonstrate our customer focus and integrity. We strive to inspire, gain trust and confidence among clients by taking responsibility, acting ethically, and encouraging honest and open dialogue. We build long-term partnerships by delivering quality and value for each client’s investment.

Advantage Security Inc. Sponsored Benefit Event

ASI is proud to have been the the title sponsor of the Rise and Run 5K event, benefiting the family of Denver Police officer John Adsit, who is well-known to many of the ASI officers who work downtown.

Officer Adsit was hit by a car on Dec. 3, 2014 while assisting other officers in escorting East High School students back to school during a protest. This event and John’s recovery have been highly publicized and covered by the media. John has endured 11 surgeries and will remain in long-term rehabilitation for the next several months.

John’s determination to recover and attend the RISE & RUN 5K has helped fuel his progress. He is now walking short distances with assistance and aggressively pursuing rehabilitation. His wife and four children ran in the 5K.

Due to the close relationship that many ASI officers have with Officer Adsit, we signed on as the title sponsor of the event, which was held on Saturday, May 2nd in Castle Rock, CO.

Executive team recognizes Sunstates employees at April 16 luncheon

RALEIGH, N.C.—On April 16, Sunstates Security hosted an event at its Raleigh, N.C., headquarters to recognize team members serving in the active Reserve and National Guard. President Glenn Burrell and Chief Executive Officer Kathryn Burrell signed Statements of Support in a ceremony conducted by Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an initiative of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).

Several members of the Guard and Reserve participated in the event, including retired U.S. Navy Commander and ESGR Area Chair Ken Oppenheim and Lt. Col. James Weaver III of the Army National Guard, both of Raleigh.

Sunstates employee Staff Sergeant Patrick Sullivan of the Georgia National Guard traveled from the Peach State to take part in the ceremony. Other Sunstates participants in the military reserve included Sergeant First Class Derrick Valentine of the West Virginia Army National Guard Military Police, Steven Michels of the Army National Guard, Artrell Blakely of the National Guard, and Shelton Briggs of the Navy Reserve, all from Raleigh.

With more than 20 years of public service as a member of Scotland Yard, Glenn Burrell well understands the personal sacrifices of serving one’s country and community. “We’re proud to support those employees in the Guard and Reserve,” he says. “We are thankful for their service, and we are pleased to do what we can for them and their families.”

Since 1972, ESGR has promoted cooperation and awareness between Reserve Component Service members and civilian employers. The organization assists in resolving conflicts that arise from employees’ military commitment.

Announcements

Framingham MA- RSIG Security was recently awarded the security contract for the PGA Constellation Senior Players Championship which was held June 8-14th at Belmont Country Club in Belmont MA.

RSIG Security was responsible for the overall security of the golf course as well as media and player areas. Screening of all patrons was conducted by RSIG Security staff at remote shuttle locations as well as at the main gate of the golf course. The biggest challenge of securing an event of this magnitude on a golf course is all the access points that need to be monitored throughout the week.

RSIG Security worked along with three different law enforcement jurisdictions and we are very pleased to report that there were no security related issues at this tournament.
