NSA Owners Meet in Chicago

The owner members of the National Security Alliance conducted their annual fall meeting this past week in conjunction with the ASIS International annual seminar and exhibits. Along with its normal itinerary of business issues the group discussed the possibility of developing an “associate member” category due to the extraordinary interest displayed by companies across the US in being affiliated with the Alliance. Outgoing Executive Committee Chair Nick Luciano appointed a committee to look into the feasibility of such a membership classification and report back to the membership on its findings at the annual winter meeting in February. The members, (a few pictured above intently listening to our presenters) thanked Nick for his year of leadership. Two speakers highlighted the meeting, the first being Ms. Terry Sambrowski, Executive Director of the National Service Alliance. Ms. Sambrowski presented on the impact of group buying power and other aspects of the National Service Alliance and how our members could benefit from such an alliance with their group. The group also heard from Mr. Jeff Welch and Tom Stefanos from the law firm of Palmer Reifler on the subject of civil recovery and how security companies could utilize the program internally and as an additional offering to their clients.

Solar Power Security Force
Anderson Security Agency, Ltd. seems to be the solar power security force of 2013! Anderson started its solar venture a few years ago when it embarked on the largest solar power project in the United States. Working with a client based out of Spain, ordering software, name badges, biometric machines, solar powered cameras, turnstiles and much more seemed like a completely different world; however, through the bumps and bruises we have successfully finished a three year project and are looking to take over the permanent security contract with the new owners. We have learned a lot about solar plants over the past few years and have had the opportunity to work on three more projects with two different companies the best part is that all of the electricity is being made for Arizona Public Service which is also a client. You just never know sometimes how one project, that seems like such a stretch, will come back to benefit you over and over again.

The U.S. arm of Sweden's Securitas is among more than 1,200 employers that offer the kind of bare-bones health plans that must be phased out beginning Jan. 1 under the health-care law. Read the entire article
